How to Dress Like a Londoner

{By Brittany Sadler}

Between the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Wimbledon, and the Olympics, summer 2012 is pretty much all about London. Catch some fresh inspiration from the stylish people walking its historic streets.

  1. Keep it classy. A dainty dotted dress gets a modern upgrade with a sleek leather bag and flat sandals.

  2. Don’t be afraid of color. Brights look happy and confident. Also, pairing brights is bold and looks fantastic – like the pink and tangerine in this outfit.
  3. Be unexpected. A quirky accessory, like this hat, makes an outfit your own.

  4. Start young. Like this stylish gentleman in his relaxed neutrals.
  5. Be unique. Go where others haven’t. This young woman pairs black tights with a light summer dress and a big bag for a distinctive look.
  6. Have an eye for detail.The intriguing collar on this simple dress makes it a style statement. Her round sunglasses, shiny watch, and relaxed hairstyle finish off a look that is chic but comfortable.
  7. Never forget the shoes. Shoes are important. Need I say more?

  8. Be daring. A vivid, exotic print and high slit make this dress eye-catching. (Just be careful with the height when recreating this). The way she paired it with a simple hairstyle, flip flops, and a structured bag keep it from being over the top.
  9. Hang out with stylish people. Between the yellow shorts, the oversized sunglasses, the coral shirt, and the pale beige dress, this group really has it going on.
  10. Back to the basics.Black and white with a great bag-perfection. Love the gold chain on the bag.
  11. Be bold. A plain dress with an asymmetrical hemline becomes the backdrop for the unique leather belt, silver necklace, and interesting bracelet.
  12. Don’t be afraid to be pretty. There is so much emphasis on other, more sensual aspects of beauty that prettiness has been overlooked. A graceful dress with a bold print and a simple hairstyle make for a lovely silhouette.
  13. Keep it simple. A nice dress, ponytail, and statement earrings create a cool outfit (although I recommend a slip…).
  14. Create a signature look. This woman’s short Audrey-esque haircut, classic sunglasses, and beautiful dress make for truly show-stopping style.
  15. Mix and match. The suede ankle boots with the perky patterned dress, aviators, and leather belt are the epitome of London style. Laid back, quirky, and effortless.
